Temple of Trash continues to inspire avid recyclers
Desh | Sep 8 2009

Well, it’s no architectural practice nor does the SALZIG Design Team mean to initiate a trend. However, the TEMPLE OF TREASURE, put on public display during the folly festival FollyDock 2007, is an acerbic solution to human profligacy leading to polluted environs. The 7m high, 25m long and 10m wide structure at Heijplaat, an old district of Rotterdam, consists of 100 tons of pressed bales of PET bottles.

If you have the cause, the followers and sponsors will automatically follow you. The temple has got ample support from Travhydro scaffolding, Arcelor steel trade, Benary, Combifleur, Peter van der Plas and Inlite design. Ever since its production, it’s inspiring the fervent recyclers and visitors as well. Visitors feel enthralled by naturally growing 47,000 sunflowers in and around the temple.
