We don’t always need a bigwig to inspire the artist in us all. Sometimes, green-minded folks around with lucid hindsight make us see what we could not otherwise. Joyce K. Curvin, a Palm Harbor artist, has that sensitivity making her find solace in trashed objects. She invigorates the detritus with her masterful creativity. Ranging from kitchen trash, old bottles, jars, cans to containers, she lends these discarded objects with a perceptible aestheticism.
The Rev. Chris Curvin, Joyce’s husband, takes pride in his wife’s exploits:
Congregants love that my wife is an artist. Many of them bring a stash of palm pods for her.
Joyce never lets any of her creations go pointless; instead, she donates and sells them. Her son’s school in Palm Harbor, the All Children’s Therapy Center of Eastlake in Oldsmar, the Cool Art Show in the Coliseum in St. Petersburg, and the gift shop of Temple Beth El in St. Petersburg, are the places where you could see her designs encouraging others to do the same.
