Blueprints of world’s largest indoor golf arena suggest its green credentials
Desh | Oct 29 2009

Zwarts & Jansma, architects from Amsterdam in New Zealand, have just recently procured the state-of-the-art design for the world’s largest indoor golf arena. The WAN Awards 2009 entrant design utilizes 14,000 sq. m of training facilities on synthetic grass, 20 state-of-the-art golf simulators to answer the problem of local water balance and a rooftop driving range with 34 bays.

Green technologies utilized to the fullest

The design team will make use of a ventilation installation that cools as it envelopes the lower regions of the hall basing itself on recirculation. Among other green technologies, it will generate solar energy to ensure carbon neutrality. While reducing water and energy wastage, it will go on to promote tourism as well.

Speculations

You could see up to 250,000 visitors per year thronging into business facilities, lounge area, a restaurant and the golf equipment shop. Well, to see these designs fructified, the designers are in talks with two municipalities in the Netherlands and are also looking for investors in the United Arab Emirates and Russia.
